Our Commitments
We will:
- Promote a safer environment and culture.
- Safely recruit and support all those with any responsibility related to children and vulnerable adults.

- Care pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse or other affected persons.
- Care pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns/allegations of abuse and other affected persons.
- Respond to those that may pose a present risk.
Safeguarding Policy
We adopted a Safeguarding Policy at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) held on Sunday 25 October 2020, and subsequently the PCC agreed that Moira Lewin should be the Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) for St Mary’s as well as for St John’s. At subsequent APCMs the Safeguarding Policy has been reviewed and has been re-approved.
Promoting A Safer Church
We at St Mary’s are committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of everyone within our church community and affirm the individuality, importance and right of all people and children to be treated with dignity, respect and fairness. We follow the Church of England’s House of Bishops’ policy statement, “Promoting a Safer Church” published in 2017 which sets out policy commitments to safeguard children, young people and adults.
