A series of enjoyable fundraising events are arranged every year. Past events include “Race Nights” and “Quiz Nights” and most recently in March of this year a very entertaining concert was held in St Mary’s Church with arias from opera and 1920’s comic songs performed by tenor Greg Tassell, with baritone James Oldfield and organist George Inscoe. If you missed it, you missed a fantastic evening!
Details of other events organised by the Friends will be posted here once details are available.
The Friends of St. Mary's (The “Friends” ) was formed as a Registered Charity in 2008 with the aim of “... supporting the maintenance, repair, restoration, preservation , beautification and improvement of the fabric of the church and churchyard ...”.
Since its inception it has raised many thousands enabling it to contribute well over £30,000 to the maintenance of St. Mary’s. In 2017 the Friends funded the restoration of the windows in the church with a grant of over £15,000. Without the help and support of the Friends, St Mary’s would not be in the condition it is now.
